A netizen defended veteran journalist Ted Failon as musician Jim Paredes accused him of being a ‘spreader of fake news’.
In line with the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise in July, the media giant announced that 90% of its employees and other shows will cease their operations by end of August.
Ted Failon is one of the ABS-CBN employees who confirmed that he is set to move to another network as the retrenchment program of ABS-CBN took effect.
With this, his fellow Kapamilya journalists expressed their gratitude and well wishes to Failon.
On Twitter, Karen Davila paid tribute to Ted whom she had worked with from 2004-2010 on TV Patrol.
Nakasama ko si Si Ted Failon ng 6 na taon sa TVPatrol noong 2004-2010. Icon sa industriya. Isa sa pinakamagaling at pinakamalalim magkomentaryo sa radyo. Saan ka man mapunta Ted, I am praying for your success. God be with you 🙏🏻 https://t.co/jcgejpJdWu

However, this message of Davila for Failon did not sit well with Paredes as the latter replied, “He was a spreader of fake news. Sorry Karen. I disagree.”

Davila did not respond to this comment of Paredes but netizens defended Failon from the accusation of the musician.
Name one fake news he spread.

Assuming it were true, siding and keeping silent are not spreading fake news.

Him not speaking out (in your own words) doesnt make him a spreader of fake news.

Hard to believe someone who uses the word “fake” very loosely. Need I remind that you uttered the same word over a year ago to only retract your statement! Choose to be kind always. Keep quiet when you have nothing nice to say!

Ted served as the anchor of TV Patrol on ABS-CBN and Failon Ngayon on DZMM.
On August 31, Ted Failon got emotional on his last episode in TV Patrol as he officially bid farewell to the Kapamilya network which has been his home for the past 30 years.
While ABS-CBN confirmed that Ted Failon will be leaving ABS-CBN, they did not specify where he will be transferring although there is news circulating that the veteran journalist will be shifting to TV5.
The Kapamilya network said that they respect the decision of Failon and recognize his contribution to their network’s news.
“The closure of ABS-CBN’s radio broadcast operations led to his painful decision and we respect it. We admire Ted’s talent, passion, and commitment to radio as his most effective medium in serving the Filipino people,” ABS-CBN stated.
