With the political climate, it has been increasingly alarming that Filipinos are more prone to spouting rape threats, sexually harassing comments and objectification of women on social media.
For instance, former child actress Xyriel Manabat recently received sexual harassment on social media to which she fought against. Xyriel also urged Filipinos to stop normalizing dirty mindsets and sexual harassment.
Then most recently, a Converge employee posted rape threats against actress Liza Soberano. Liza already took legal actions against the employee last September 24, 2020.
Meanwhile, since the start of his run, President Rodrigo Duterte has been receiving backlash and criticisms because of his rape jokes.
