Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson has revealed that he suffered his own version of a pandemic back in 2019. He said that even though what he experienced was tough for him, he was still able to overcome it.
People speculated that the actor was referring to his controversial relationship with actress Bea Alonzo in 2019.
The 31-year-old actor made the revelation during the virtual press conference for the finale of his series, ‘A Soldier’s Heart.‘ He mentioned that his values and personality were strongly judged and questioned by the people last year but he was able to survive it through the love of the people around him.
“Alam ko na my values and my personality and everything about me has been questioned mula last year. But I think may ginagawa akong tama sa buhay kasi napasama ako sa ganitong proyekto (A Soldier’s Heart) and I’ve been surrounded by great people,” he said.
Gerald mentioned that he along with his co-workers on the said series were put in a difficult situation when they were forced to be locked in the set for the sake of the series but they were able to pull things through.
He added that he won’t be able to survive the lock-in for the series and his ‘pandemic’ in 2019 if it weren’t for the people who supported and stood by him.
“Nilagay kami sa napakahirap na situation nung nag-lock in kami. Kami ‘yung unang show na nilagay sa ganu’ng situation,” he explained.
“But hindi namin magagawa, hindi ko magagawa ito, hindi ko masu-survive ‘yung unang pandemic ko nu’ng 2019 kung hindi rin dahil sa mga tao sa paligid ko at sa mga nakasama ko,” he added.
On the other hand, when Gerald was asked about the current state of the showbiz industry, he said that there were still people who continue to pry into other people’s businesses. He wanted people to focus on having contentment and peace with their own careers and life.
“Siguro hanapin lang ‘yung contentment at peace sa negosyo namin, sa industriya namin. Maraming nakikialam, eh. Maraming may say, maraming may opinion, maraming may judgment,” he said.
He said that people should live their life happily without hurting or stepping on anyone.
“Buhay ko ito, buhay mo iyan. Kung anong nagpapasaya sa ‘yo, alam mo naman na hindi mo naman talaga sadya manakit ng tao, tapakan. Just live your life and be happy,” said Gerald.
On his learnings about his TV series, Gerald said “Darating ang mga challenges mo. Dadating ang mga pagsubok pero life goes on.”
“Mas maraming tao diyan ang may mas malaking problema kaysa sa puso ko, lalo sa sitwasyon ngayon. Nakakahiya naman kung magrereklamo ako dahil binash ako dahil sa love life ko. May mas maraming problema diyan,” he added.
Gerald Anderson broke up with Bea Alonzo in 2019 when he explained that their relationship was ‘no longer healthy.’
“Siguro nangyari just like in any other relationship we just had moments when we’d just fight after fight after fight… We had that one big fight and nilabas lahat ng emotions, feelings,” Gerald said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
“Then ‘yung ending ang realization na hindi na siya masyadong healthy and [that] you’re just hurting each other…na ayaw mo na talaga. After that, you have to stay strong…iwas muna sa communication,” he added.
However, Bea explained that the actor just ‘stopped speaking’ with her.
Their break-up became even more controversial when Gerald was linked to Julia Baretto which people speculated was the reason for their break-up. Netizens claimed that Gerald cheated on Bea with his Between Maybes co-star Julia. But both Gerald and Julia have addressed the particular rumors about them.
