Erwin Tulfo, Alex Santos, and Aljo Bendijo used to work for ABS-CBN. Erwin Tulfo started at ABS-CBN in 1995 where hosted Hoy Gising!, Mission X, Alas Singko Y Medya, Magandang Umaga, Bayan, and Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas but he left the station last 2005.
Alex Santos, on the other hand, is from ABS-CBN Regional Network Davao, where he is the co-host of Kumikitang Kabuhayan. He also started at ABS-CBN Manila in 2002. He was also part of Umagang Kay Ganda and became the main anchor of TV Patrol Weekend but he left the station in 2012.
Recently, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar revealed plans for the People’s Television Network (PTV-4) to compete for ratings with commercial broadcast networks and produce their own revenue.
Andanar made the announcement at the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO)’s proposed 2021 budget during House panel deliberations.
“Yes, we’ve had the plan to at least be able to compete as far as ratings is concerned. The PTV-4, being a government-owned and -controlled corporation, it has to make its own money from advertisers,” Andanar replied to ACT-CIS party list Rep. Eric Yap.
But along with the announcement of the initiative of the PTV-4 to compete with commercial broadcast networks, Yap addressed the labor concerns facing employees of the network that he wants to look into at PCOO.
“Meron lang tayong experience na nagkakaproblema tayo dahil number one, ang members of the board ng PTV ang nag-a-approve. At hindi rin sila nakakabigay ng go signal hangga’t sa [hindi] nagbibigay ang GCG (Governance Commission for GOCCs) ng go-signal.”
As of last Monday, the new Ulat Bayan, the primetime newscast of the government-owned TV station, started airing.
