Kapamilya star Enchong Dee has shared his plans for his career following the shutdown of his home channel, ABS-CBN.
In an exclusive virtual interview with Enchong on Thursday, September 24, he mentioned that he will accept jobs and projects of those only that sparks his interest.
“After the shut down of [ABS-CBN], I sort of decided na I don’t need to take any jobs if di naman talaga ‘yung gustong-gusto ko,” he said.
The 31-year-old actor said that he will not accept jobs that he doesn’t really like as a precautionary measure to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also said that he doesn’t want to expose himself so much outside because he doesn’t want to put his parents at risk of acquiring the virus whenever he would come to their house.
“We don’t need to force anything because for one, pandemic pa rin tayo, di mo nakikita ‘yung kalaban eh,” he said.
“I go home to the house of my parents na, hindi ko kayang isugal ‘yung health nila just because I am working,” he added.
Enchong said that with the shut down of ABS-CBN and with the threat that the coronavirus brings, he learned how to be proactive with managing his health and career.
He said that people must learn how to manage their careers and for him as a celebrity, he explained that he can’t always rely on his manager to handle his career.
“Then number two, it sort of be creative and be proactive even if all of these things are happening. Hindi mo siya pwedeng isasa lahat sa ibang tao,” he said.
“The best manager is your self. We need to know how to manage our own careers,” he added.
He said that with the strengthening of social media platforms like YouTube, he was able to find an outlet to connect with his fans and viewers through his YouTube vlogs.
“Kailangan alam mo rin sa sarili mo kung ano ‘yung pwede mong i-offer sa tao para naman kahit papano mapagaan mo ‘yung loob nila,” he said.
Enchong still lives up to ABS-CBN’s slogan when he said, “By the end of the day, we still hold on to ‘In the service of the Filipino people,'”
Enchong Dee is currently a contract artist of ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic. He is known for his role in the 2009 TV drama series which is ‘Katorse‘ where he co-starred with Erich Gonzales.
He is currently vlogging on YouTube with his channel having over 300 thousand subscribers. With regard to his vlogging journey, he mentioned that he is mindful of the amount of information that he shares about himself on his vlogs.
He explained that there will always be a limitation on what he tells about himself to the people and that having limitations serves as a guide to him as to what kind of content creator he will become.
“Guide mo ‘yun eh, ‘yun ‘yung magiging guide mo kung ano ‘yung magiging content mo, kung ano ‘yung magiging brand mo,” he said.
“I think it just became clear to me that I want to educate, as little as doing my ‘budgetarian podcast’ episodes (Enhchong’s vlog segment of teaching how to save money), to empower people, to give them a good time,” he added.
