Former ABS-CBN Brand Communications Manager Jon Montesa didn’t hold back his opinions on House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s statement blasting MTRCB.
Cayetano criticized the government agency for outdated thinking on information regulation and censorship.
According to Montesa, it would have been better if Cayetano had stood up and said the same notion at the hearing for ABS CBN Franchise renewal,

Recently, Cayetano blasted the proposal of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) that Netflix and other film streaming sites should be regulated by them.
“This is the kind of bureaucratic thinking that gives government workers a bad name.
According to Cayetano, instead of regulating streaming content, ways to develop the film and television industry are what the MTRCB should do especially if they want to be relevant.
“If they really want to be relevant at this time, sana ang iniisip is kung paano makakatulong sa pagpapa-improve ng industriya dahil napag-iwanan na tayo ng ating mga Asian neighbors. Despite the fact na napaka-daming talented na Pilipino actors, directors, writers, and creative and production professionals.”
But some netizens doubt the House Speaker’s words because as we all know, Cayetano abruptly changes sides when it suits his purpose.
One example will be his flip-flopping with ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
“Can anyone honestly say, after watching the coverage of the network during the 2010 and 2016 elections, that ABS-CBN did not take sides and favor any candidate? Or that personalities and politicians, who through the years have had strong affinity with the station, do not receive undue advantage during campaign season?
Other netizens agreed with the fomer Brand Communications Manager and even called Cayetano ‘balimbing.’

In a subsequent tweet, Montesa said that he was pleased to learn that the people who voted for the incompetent and corrupt government officials in his hometown have come to their senses.
ABS-CBN will surely be an election issue in 2022, wag makalimot.”
