ABS-CBN has been off the air since May 5, 2020, after the NTC issued a cease and desist order.
July 10 has been viewed by many as a dark day in the media industry — and made even darker by the pandemic that the world is currently facing —after 70 lawmakers agreed to junk ABS-CBN’s appeal for renewal of their franchise. This denial was a massive blow to the workers of the media giant, leaving them unemployed amid a pandemic.
According to DJ Cha Cha, one of the disk jockey of MOR radio station, this is the first time she has been crying her heart out during the whole process of fighting for the renewal of their network. MOR had been home to her for 12 years.
MOR ceased operations on August 31, 2020. Thousands of employees also were retrenched on the same day.
