Young actress Charlie Dizon was revealed to be the leading lady of Paulo Avelino in director Antoinette Jadaone’s upcoming film Fan Girl.
The story revolves around college student Jane, who is fangirling over celebrity heartthrob Paulo Avelino and finds her way to her idol’s strange mansion. While she thought that she was already living her dream, she will soon find out that the celebrity whom she thought she knew turns out to be someone completely different and unrecognizable.
As mentioned in the official website of Project 8, one should “never meet your heroes, and Jane finds out exactly why.”
Paulo revealed his leading lady through his post on his Twitter account. He tagged the film director Antoniette Jadaone, cinematographer Neil Daza, and his leading lady Charlie Dizon.

The film ‘Fan Girl’ which was written and directed by Direk Tonet, will have its world premiere at the TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL as the main centerpiece which is the only Filipino film in the Tokyo Premiere 2020 section. It is produced by Bianca Balbuena-Liew of Epicmedia and Dan Villegas of Project 8 corner San Joaquin Projects, Black Sheep, Globe Studios, and Crossword Productions.
In a virtual interview with ABS-CBN, Charlie mentioned that she was happy about the film and working with Direk Tonet who has been updating her constantly about the happenings in the film.
“Sobrang saya po kase in fairness, si Direk Tonet po lagi niya akong ina-update kung ano po ‘yung mga nangyayari sa movie. Kaya sobrang saya po,” she said.
“Since last year, simula nung natapos naming i-film ‘yung ‘Fan Girl’, alam po ng lahat na pinagdadasal ko lahat ‘yun,” she added.
Paulo mentioned that he’s excited about the film because he feels like it is has a different concept that deserves an award.
“I’m very happy and excited as well not only for us, the actors but also for the producers and Direk Tonet kase ano talaga, I feel like it’s something different and it deserves, in my opinion, a win,” he said.
The ‘Fan Girl’ film will be Charlie’s first-ever lead movie role that’s why she was pleased that she was able to work with such a beautiful movie along with Direk Tonet.
“Sobrang grateful lang po ako na nakagawa ako ng ganitong kagandang project, of course with Direk Tonet. Kase alam ko kung gaano ka-passionate ‘yung buong team nung ginagawa namin ‘to,” Charlie explained.
Paulo added that the film “tackles on current dilemmas, current fan girl dilemmas, lost within the psychological effect.”
Charlie was chosen to be the lead actress after about 600 hopeful actresses auditioned for the part.
It can be remembered even before the lead actress was revealed, Direk Tonet has already been posting photos of the production processes and the set of the film.

‘Fan Girl’ is Charlie’s latest film after being a part of the box office hit film of LizQuen which is ‘Alone/Together.’ She was also part of the recently wrapped-up series A Soldier’s Heart (2020) and the mini series Parasite Island (2019).
