ABS-CBN artists JC De Vera and Ritz Azul have moved back to the Kapatid network TV5 and will star in the upcoming Sunday gag show which is Sunday Kada Kada Sunday.
Their transfer comes after the ABS-CBN network was denied a fresh franchise on July 10 and was forced to retrench their employees.
The Kapamilya network also stopped the operation of all its frequencies following the recalling of all the frequencies assigned to the network by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
That’s why many Kapamilya artists are already transferring to other networks.
JC and Ritz were both artists of the Kapatid network before coming to the Kapamilya network. Both of them maintained good ties with the network that’s why they are still welcome to come back to the TV5.
The said gag show that the two will star in is produced by Brightlight Productions and will be a “comedy show created to make Sunday viewing full of laughter and entertainment” according toPhilippine Entertainment Portal (PEP).
Sunday Kada Kada Sunday will mirror ABS-CBN’s comedy gag show Banana Sundae which was recently canceled after 12 years due to the shutdown of ABS-CBN. Both JC and Ritz were a part of Banana Sundae.
It was reported that almost the entire cast of Banana Sundae will move to the new gag show on TV5. Aside from JC and Ritz, Wacky Kiray, Jhen Maloles, Sunshine Garcia, Aiko Climaco, and Badji Mortiz were also rumored to have switched networks.
But Angelica Panganiban, one of the original cast members of the now-defunct show, didn’t accept the offer and will remain with the ABS-CBN network. She will be starring in an upcoming action-drama in the network called Walang Hanggang Paalam along with Paulo Avelino, Zanjoe Marudo, and Arci Muñoz. The drama series will premiere on September 28 on the cable and digital channels of ABS-CBN via Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live.
JC De Vera also dedicated an Instagram post for his former show Banana Sundae saying, “Hindi kame mawawala. 🤙 #bananasundae @bananasundaeofficial”
