Despite the rejection of the ABS-CBN franchise, ABS-CBN Corp. is committed to finding new ways to support the Filipinos by focusing on core capabilities during this pandemic.
According to ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak, the company hopes to emerge “better, stronger and more productive” from the crisis in order to serve the Filipino people.
By doing so, the company will focus on core capabilities by entertaining and inspiring Filipino families, especially in these trying times.
“Now more than ever, we can focus on our core capabilities, creating programs to entertain, inspire and give joy for Filipino families and delivering news that informs, educates and helps our Kababayan especially in their time of need,” Katigbak said.
Katigbak believes that even if the company was deprived of a franchise, their passion to help and serve the Filipinos will never be taken away from them.
“Nothing can take away our spirit of service. Our passion to serve Filipinos continues to burn brightly in our hearts and our commitment to the public is to continue to find ways to serve you,” he added.
As a result, it will continue to reach its audience through its cable TV and satellite partners, the Internet through its own website, as well as other platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.
Recently, retrenched ABS-CBN personnel remained true to the network’s slogan, “In the name of the Filipinos,” by volunteering to distribute Pantawid ng Pag-ibig relief packages to 1,500 drivers, construction workers, and senior citizens in various barangays.
According to Angelo Angolo, former ABS-CBN Bacolod public service officer, despite the physical structure of ABS-CBN being shut down, their passion to help will not be hindered.
“Hanggang next week pa ito… Nag-request tayo na kung puwede ma-extend din sa Visayas ang ating Pantawid ng Pag-ibig. Naipasara lang naman ang physical structure, pero ang puso at commitment… ‘yong commitment na gusto tumulong, hindi nila mapapatigil.”
CEO Carlo Katigbakthanked the retrenched employees who gave their service for how many years,
“Thank you to those who are leaving ABS-CBN for the years you have given to the company and for the service you have given to our audience, Thank you to those who are staying behind, believing in our future and for enduring our sacrifice in order to continue serving the public.”
