After the shutdown of ABS-CBN, Star Magic suffered a devastating blow especially their talents. With the lack of projects and the move to the digital platforms, the management firm has decided to go onward and find work for their talents at other networks.
Star Magic head and director Johnny Manahan confirmed that they are currently in negotiations with GMA Network and TV5 to help their talents find new projects.
“Our artists had already been exploring opportunities in digital space. With the rejection of the franchise, cable and cyberspace became the only venues for network content. We began to look elsewhere for opportunities for our artists. Talks are currently underway with contacts from Channel 5 (TV5) and Channel 7 (GMA 7),” said Manahan.
Manahan said that they will be finding work for their talents despite the loss the management has suffered.
From the loss of advertising revenues, the cancellation of projects, retrenchment of some employees, and suspension of contracts, Star Magic stays strong for their talents.
“Almost immediately, instantaneously, advertising revenues began to dry up, projects canceled, contracts suspended. And with that, we began to look elsewhere for opportunities for our artists.”
“We have been talking to our artists via Zoom to reassure them of our unwavering dedication to their professional and personal lives. Although depleted, Star Magic will still be around,” said Manahan.
Manahan assured the professional lives of the talents working with Star Magic.
“The primary goals remain the same: to seek out work for our artists wherever we can find it and to care for their body and soul. We have told them that their professional lives do not end with the franchise fiasco,” Manahan added.
