MOR DJ Chacha can’t help but react to the quick approval of Dennis Uy’s DITO Telecommunity franchise.
In a series of tweets, Chacha sarcastically praised the House of Representatives for hastily passing the franchise bill that gave DITO Telecommunity a 25-year franchise to operate.

On Monday, August 24, the House of Representatives has passed DITO’s franchise application bill in less than three months. This was a complete contrast to what they did with the ABS-CBN franchise which spanned 3 legislative congresses (16th, 17th, 18th) and almost 6 years pending at the committee level.
DITO’s franchise bill was filed on June 6, 2020. On August 10, the committee report was filed and was immediately approved on second reading on August 11 or just 1 day after.
Meanwhile, in another tweet, Chaha equated DITO’s quick passage to its ties with Malacanang.

Dennis Uy who owns and controls DITO Telecommunity is a known ally and close friend of President Rodrigo Duterte. Both from Davao City, Duterte is said to be one of Uy’s closest advisors during the time of Duterte as Davao City Mayor.
During Duterte’s Presidential campaign in 2016, Uy became one of his top campaign contributors.
