August 17th, 2020 – Singapore – Rising indie-pop singer-songwriter Sad Alex returns with the release of “sfs”, out now via Red Bull Records.
Short for “so fucking sad”, the single showcases Sad Alex’s sharp-tongued and introspective lyricism, melodically reflecting on past heartbreak, and her own destructive habits when it comes to love.
Premiered exclusively via Earmilk, “sfs” channels Sad Alex’s post-breakup sadness into a self-aware dance anthem, flipping the typical script of an electro pop-infused production on its head. To coincide with the release, Sad Alex has also unveiled her official lyric video for “sfs”, which finds herself surrounded by rain clouds, illuminating into a storming flurry of colors as the beat drops.
“Sometimes when you’re sad, a solemn lullaby from a ‘sad indie chill’ playlist will help you wallow in misery and siphon your tears into a wine bottle,” says Sad Alex. “Sometimes you want a Tron-syle rager that you can cry-dance to with vigor, screaming the chorus from the comfort of your wall sharing, overpriced Los Angeles studio apartment. This song satisfies the latter. Looking on the bright side of your spiraling depression, destructive habits, and persistent heartbreak, just because you’re sad doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time.”
