Arnell Ignacio, a staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte who was previously assigned to a government post, blasted Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado for her tirade against the current administration.
On his Facebook account, Ignacio gave unsolicited advice to all the artists who spoke up against the current administration.
Arnell said that showbiz celebrities who are genuinely interested in involving themselves in politics, policy issues, or social issues should do their research.
“Kapag nagbibigay kayo ng mga opinyon niyo na hindi niyo inaaral, mabubutata lang kayo, eh, Wag kayong basta lang magpost nang magpost kasi para lang kayong eleganteng tsismosa.”

Ignacio mentioned Jennylyn Mercado’s tweet where she questioned the breakdown of the borrowed money by the PH Government.
“Nasaan napunta ang pera’, kita mo tuloy masasabihan ka ‘check-in mo nasa website ‘yan, ‘di ba? Mapapahiya ka pa.”
He then told actors and actresses not to ‘jump’ on topics that are not relevant to their career, because it doesn’t mean just because you’re famous, you know what politics is.
“Payo lang, wag niyo na pasukin ang hindi ninyo linya. You have very successful careers dahil mahusay kayo sa linyang pag-aartista. Do not ever think the power of popularity will instantly translate into mastery of the political jungle. Wawasakin ninyo mga careers ninyo.”
On her Twitter account, she asked why people are being silenced if they ask questions because, for her, the people who ask are the ones who are interested in development.
Bakit ngayon ay naging masamang katangian ang magusisa at magtanong?
Hindi ba eto senyales na gustong matuto ng isang tao?
If you shame people for asking, how can we learn and grow? pic.twitter.com/LMVDTAI6sB— jennylyn mercado (@MercadoJen) August 2, 2020
Jennylyn has been vocal on social media for the past few months when she started speaking out about the issue of the ABS-CBN franchise, even though she’s on the Kapuso network.
She also criticized the different government departments in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, like DOH Secretary Francisco Duque for his incompetence, the recent PhilHealth corruption, and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque who was spotted sleeping during the State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.
