Ever since the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a cease-and-desist order against ABS-CBN and after its franchise renewal was rejected 70-11 in Congress, many Kapamilya stars expressed their support for the network.
With 11,000 jobs in danger because of the franchise denial, some celebrities used their social media accounts while others took to the streets and joined the noise barrage to express their disapproval with Congress’ decision.
Angel Locsin, one of the very vocal ABS-CBN celebrities, joined the noise barrage on July 18 and called out her fellow artists who remain silent amidst the network closure.
Also joining the noise barrage on various dates were comedian Vice Ganda, journalists Dyan Castillejo and Bianca Gonzalez-Intal, couples Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, and Edward Barber and Maymay Entrata, and Jake Cuenca and Kylie Versoza.
Also present were Vina Morales, Gonzaga sisters Alex and Toni, siblings Arjo and Ria Atayde with their mother Sylvia Sanchez, Mylene Dizon, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, Kim Chiu and Billy Crawford, Enchong Dee and veteran actors Joel Torre and Jaime Fabregas.
Rated K host Korina Sanchez tracked back how she started her career in the network and left a positive statement saying that ABS-CBN will be back soon.
Other Kapamilya personalities like Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban, Robi Domingo, Janella Salvador, Kim Atienza, Ruffa Gutierrez, Alessandra de Rossi, Eula Valdez and beauty queen Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach showed their support through their social media accounts.
Moreover, celebrities from other networks like Maine Mendoza, Jennylyn Mercado, Julie Anne San Jose, Bea Binene, Gabbi Garcia, and Janine Gutierrez also sympathized with ABS-CBN.
