Korina Sanchez has revealed that she was doubtful of Mayor Isko Moreno’s capability as a politician at first. She admitted that her first impression of him wasn’t too favorable but her perspective about him changed as the broadcast journalist got to know him over time.
She mentioned that many people believed that Isko wouldn’t excel or shine in the field of politics but many were also proven to be wrong.
“So much news about him. After the elections, he became Man of the Hour. Napakaraming balita tungkol kay Isko Moreno. Isa siyang artista na nag pulitiko na hindi inakala ng marami na sisikat nang husto ang bituin sa larangan ng public service,” Korina said.
“Medyo diskumpyado ako nang una ko siyang ininterview. Could all good things said about Mayor Isko or YorMe as they call him be for real? Have to say: I was taken and impressed,” she added.
Mayor Isko Moreno alias ‘Yorme’, is the current Mayor of Manila. He is serving as the 27th Mayor of the city and prior to becoming a politician, he was an actor.
Yorme admitted that the people would always have something bad to say about others. He accepts the fact that he cannot please everybody so he just bears in his mind to always be strong and keeping his faith in God.
“Hindi mo naman mapipigilan na mag-isip ng masama laban sa’yo. Ang importante, if they do it, just be strong and try to cope with the challenges and believe in God,” he stated.
Korina was able to interview Yorme before the COVID-19 pandemic threatened the Philippines. She was allowed by Yorme to raid his office in City Hall.
She posted the encounter with Yorme on her YouTube channel Rated Korina and captioned the video as ‘A Day with Yorme.’
Yorme showed the different parts and designs of his office to Korina, like his souvenirs from different places in the Philippines and vinyl collection. He also showed his conference room, receiving room, and hall room.
They also talked about the Mayor’s interest in creating a public health clinic for stray dogs and cats. Isko said that through the clinic, there will be fewer strays in the streets and citizens will be encouraged to adopt pets.
Korina, as a pet lover, was impressed by Yorme’s plans and was really looking forward to it to be made in reality.
“May sense ang sinsasabi niya. Matagal-tagal ko na rin kilala si Yorme, I mean dati hindi naman siya Yorme, sana lang hindi siya magbago diba. And sana lahat ng mga pangako niya, especially for the dogs of Manila,” Korina said.
“Kasi marami naman siyang natulungang kapwa tao, pero walang aso ang tutulong sa kapwa aso. Right?” she added.
She also said that “Yorme is one of the few local government officials who are really dedicated to making things better for the animals.”
She was glad that Yorme is making plans on bringing improvement to the Manila pound for the betterment of animals such as cats and dogs.
“At papalitan na ‘yang Manila pound na ‘yan,” she said.
Korina’s new show Rated Korina is derived from her popular magazine show Rated K.

She said that even though her home network was denied its application for a fresh franchise, she will not stop in trying to bring knowledge and entertainment to people through her show.
Korina has already confirmed that she will be leaving ABS-CBN following the denial of its franchise.
Recalling back when ABS-CBN was still fighting for its bid for a franchise renewal, Rated K temporarily suspended its airing. However, the show did not return on the Kapamilya Channel.
