McCoy introduced himself to the public as Iñigo Cabanatan in the hit morning TV show, Be Careful With My Heart back in 2012.
After a series of appearances in local TV shows such as Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita (2015) and It’s Showtime, McCoy became a member of the boy group #Hashtags in 2015. In 2016, #Hashtags won the Dance Album of the Year in the 8 PMPC Star Awards for Music. McCoy was also nominated for the Push Tweet and Gram Newcomer award by Push Awards in 2016. He also won the Favorite Breakthrough Loveteam recognition during the 2016 Star Cinema Awards.
In 2016, McCoy was a celebrity housemate in Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7 where he was named 6 Big Placer along with his fellow #Hashtags member, Nikko Natividad. More recognitions came in 2017 when de Leon won PEP’sters Choice Awards’ Male Breakout Star of the Year.
De Leon also won two awards during the 2017 Box Office Entertainment Awards, bagging the Most Promising Loveteam recognition with Elise Joson for their work in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as well as the Most Popular Recording/Performing Group honors with #Hashtags.
After appearing in several Maalala Mo Kaya and Wansapanataym episodes, McCoy became a recurring cast member in the hit TV series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano . McCoy also won the Most Promising Loveteam of Movies & TV recognition with Elise Joson during the 49 Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Box Office Entertainment Awards for their roles in the TV show, The Good Son. The 25-year-old actor also appears regularly in noontime shows such as ASAP and It’s Showtime.
Aside from being a mainstay star in TV shows, the #Hashtags member also appeared in several independent and mainstream movies, including Instalado (2017) where he won Best New Movie Actor of the Year in the 34 PMPC Star Awards for Movies, Ang Panday (2017), Sin Island (2018), Sakaling Maging Tayo (2019) and G! (2019) where he was nominated for Best Actor in the 3 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino Awarding ceremony. He last appeared in the 2020 hit zombie film Block Z alongside Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.
Just recently, McCoy announced that he will be returning to school to finish his degree while also focusing on his work as an actor under his new family, Viva Artists Agency.
