Kapuso artist Janine Guitierrez caught the attention of netizens when she posted a throwback photo of herself on Instagram with the caption ‘perpetual isolation.’
There was nothing wrong with her photo but what the people noted was her caption.
They said that the artist may be referring to the phrase that Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque used about President Rodrigo Duterte that he is in ‘perpetual isolation’ as a precaution to avoid COVID-19.

Fellow artist Iza Calzado laughed at the caption.
“Hahaha! Good one!” Iza wrote.
While other users in the comment section just appreciated Janine’s beauty, other netizens seemed to get what the artist was trying to say with her post.
Recently, the phrase ‘perpetual isolation’ trended after Roque used the term to describe Duterte’s current status. Netizens were disturbed by the phrase and have speculated that the president’s health might be worsening.
Many believe that the president has acquired the virus but is keeping it hidden from the public. Some also say that the president went to Singapore for some health emergency issues.
However, Roque explained that the said phrase was just a figure of speech.
“The President is in perpetual isolation because no one can come close to him…. Whenever we meet with him, there is a velvet rope that keeps him at least 6 feet away from everyone else. So, no one can really come close to the President,” Roque said.
He explained that the phrase can mean that the people who are supposed to guard the president’s health are doing a good job in making sure that Duterte doesn’t acquire the COVID-19.
“He’s in perpetual isolation in the sense that PSG (Presidential Security Group) has done a very good job in making sure that no one really comes close to the President,” he said.
Roque added that he used the phrase ‘perpetual isolation’ to fully highlight the prudence exercised by the PSG.
The rumors were debunked when Sen. Bong Go posted a ‘proof of life’ photo of the president on Tuesday, August 18 showing Duterte having dinner with his family while holding the newspaper of that date.
Go also posted a brief Facebook live clip of himself with Pres. Duterte that further proves that the president is in the country and is alive and well.
Janine is known to be vocal with her opinions on current events, like COVID-19 pandemic, Pride20 arrest, or even press freedom.
According to her, she wants to be the voice of people who are afraid to speak up. She wants to be an inspiration to people and influence them to muster up their courage and speak up.
“You really don’t know who’s listening, who’s watching you, who needs to hear what you have to say. There might be someone who’s afraid to say it even if they’re thinking it and you being vocal about issues can inspire other people to do the same and to act,” she said.
Despite being criticized and told to stay away from political issues, Janine continues to speak up about issues that matter.
On her Twitter account, the young star said that people need to speak up and be involved in political issues. She noted that every voice matters.
@ comments na "sana hindi ka nalang makisali sa political issues"
to anyone who gets this too, pls don't be swayed. It's your right as a Filipino to speak up, question and be involved. I will keep repeating THAT YOUR VOICE MATTERS.
