Kapuso actress Sunshine Dizon has had enough of keeping silent over the governance of public officials.
Recently she aired her disappointment on her social media accounts following the Statement of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte regarding the current situation of the country amid the trying times of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, she clarified that her opinions do not imply that she was an activist but rather she is just a concerned mother who desires the well-being of her children.
Her clarification was to answer back at criticism thrown at her which said that she is better off focusing on her children rather than politics.
“Nagiging aktibista ka na rin po ba? Mas maganda po focus ka sa pagluluto at sa mga kiddos mo. At maganda ‘yung i-post good vibes pa po. Mas maganda tahimik at walang nag-babash sa’yo. Fan mo po ako since AnnaKarenina,” her critic claimed.
In reply, Dizon said that she is not an activist but a mother who hopes for a better country.
“Hindi po ako aktibista, isa lamang akong ina na nagnanais ng mas maayos at payapa na Pilipinas,” she said.
She added that voicing out and calling for action to the government is important since it might be the solution to the change that the country needs.
“Ipagdasal po natin ‘wag dumating ang panahon na kailanganin na ng ibang magsalita pero wala nang makikinig o ‘di kaya’t lagyan din ng busal ang kanilang mga bibig. Wala pong masama maghangad ng mabuti para sa bayan. Ano po ang masasabi niyo kung sakaling boses mo lang pala ang kailangan upang masimulan ang pagbabago pero hindi ka nagsalita?”
Her recent condemnation was over the public administration’s shortcomings which supposedly caused the Filipino people to suffer.
She lambasted the government for prioritizing the shutdown of the ABS-CBN network and passing the Anti-Terror law instead of focusing on beating the virus as the country cases continue to surge.
Her frustrations pushed her to speak up and urged people not to be blinded by the powerful.
Sunshine Dizon is a hands-on mom to her two children Doreen and Anton Tan with her estranged husband Timothy Tan.
