Jennylyn Mercado took to social media to express words of encouragement to her fans and followers regarding being a single mother.
The Kapuso artist herself is a single mother and she said that other single moms should not let people bring them down about having to raise a child alone.
She posted the encouragement on her Twitter account along with a picture of a comment of a netizen who mocked single mothers.
To all the single moms out there, Never let comments like this get to you.
Having a kid early doesn’t make you less of a woman. In fact it’s the opposite. Being a single parent made us stronger than ever.

The 33-year-old actress mentioned that having to raise a child alone is not something one should be embarrassed about. She said that it is not something that degrades a person’s character, instead, it is something that strengthens a person even more.
Being a single mother tests one’s strength physically and mentally and that’s why people who continue to persevere despite having to raise a child alone are the toughest. Jennylyn said that when a person is a single mother, she will have to be the one to stand as both the mother and the father to the child which is a difficult thing, that’s why she said that people should not degrade and belittle single moms like them.
She also said that single mothers should be proud of themselves for being able to cope with their situation in life. She said that they should hold their heads up and acknowledge that they are more powerful than what people make them out to be.
Kaya always hold your head up high.

And for those people na minamaliit pa rin kami hanggang ngayon, I feel so sorry for you.
Lahat ng mga kritisismo sa pagkatao namin nasabi na samin, and yet here we are. Raising our kid(s) the best we can. Whatever you say, You can and will never bring a strong woman down.— jennylyn mercado (@MercadoJen) August 31, 2020

She hopes that those people who continue to undermine single mothers’ characters will realize that the only one that they should feel sorry for is themselves. The artist said that she feels sorry for those who still underestimate their capability to raise their child with love and care.
She wanted to prove that despite the lack of a father figure, their child can still be raised well if one will just give her best into doing it. She said that even if a person is a single mother, she will never be brought down no matter what harsh criticisms people may say to them because she is still a mother who will remain strong for her child no matter what.
