Video content creator Mark Averilla, popularly known as Macoy Dubs, gained support from celebrities and netizens after announcing that he will temporarily stop his trending ‘Aunt Julie’ content.
Macoy Dubs announced earlier that his latest ‘Aunt Julie’ upload will be the last for the trending content series. He also revealed that he received backlash from the same people who bashed him way back 2019, that’s why he decided to stop the said content.
“How dare you guys. You’re the reason for my depression and I came back earlier this year but still ganyan,” he wrote in a tweet.
He also expressed his annoyance with people who cancel content creators who just want to bring entertainment and good vibes.
“Definitely they don’t want Aunt Julie anymore. They want Macoy Dubs to go back to dubbing so okay, but hindi ako titigil,” he said.
“You know I’m just here to create content di ba? Dami ng problema ng Earth. Why do you guys want to cancel good vibes? I mean I don’t get you people,” he added.
However, many netizens and celebrities showed their support for Macoy Dubs.
Cancel culture has become a weapon irresponsibly wielded by haters. We cry “No to bullying” but readily crucify anyone at the drop of a hat without bothering to find out the real story—to what end?
What is this even about? Why fight Macoy wtf? https://t.co/58jSnuy5Tz

'Yung Aunt Julie series ni Macoy Dubs ang isa sa pinakamahusay na social satire sa net: mabigat pero kay gaan, pinatatawa tayo habang sinusugatan. Kaya nakakainis ang mga KJ! Malungkot na ang mundo dahil tarantado ang gobyerno. Hindi masamang maging masaya tayo.

Macoy is a great friend and one of the most genuine people I know. He sincerely just wants to make people happy.
TBH, his videos have been a ray of sunshine in these dark times, and it breaks my heart that people would think ill of Macoy. 😭
@macoydubs1 , WE LOVE YOU! YAKAP https://t.co/necLiWsUTM

Aunt Julie is one of the best things to come out in these dark times. Don’t stop people from enjoying things just because you are unhappy. Our words have power and it doesn’t cost anything to be kind. Let’s try to be better people towards each other.#ProtectAuntJulie pic.twitter.com/rUSTGpcYza

If you found a harmless content korni and not up to your taste, you can choose to be kind and encourage them to keep making videos until they produce better content. Or you can choose to be a prick and outright tell them to stop doing what they love. Pls choose kindness everyday.

People really out here cancelling the wrong people. Aunt Julie is a fun character and pinapasaya tayo ni @macoydubs1 amidst the pandemic. He's been very vocal about social issues at critical siya sa gobyerno. Obviously hindi siya manhid. SO ANONG PROBLEMA NIYO???? https://t.co/lh5zhxiloZ
