14th August, 2020 – Singapore – Following the release of her critically acclaimed English and Spanish EPs ‘the voicenotes’/’mensajes de voz’, Alaina Castillo’s star continues to rise with her new single “Tonight,” which showcases her phenomenal talent transitioning from introvert singer-songwriter to pop star in the making.
This track sets the scene for what’s in store and shows the breadth and ambition of her artistry. Alaina wrote the track as an anti-social party anthem, re-emphasizing her own anti-social lifestyle and encouraging her listeners to embrace their solitude, especially in these uncertain times. Fans can listen here:
Alaina Castillo said about the meaning behind the song, “‘tonight’ is my antisocial party song. it highlights all my emotions as i’m going about my day and wishing that i could just be at home in my own world. i’ve always been down to vibe out with neon lights and music so that i could create a different atmosphere on my own and that’s what ‘tonight’ is all about.”
Earlier this year, Alaina released her EP ‘the voicenotes’. The 4-song project includes current single “just a boy,” that already has over 9 million Spotify streams and was created alongside her regular collaborator, Romans (Lewis Capaldi, Ella Mai, Demi Lovato, Khalid). The single marks her largest song to date. In addition to the EP, Alaina also released the Spanish version, ‘mensajes de voz’, reflecting the bilingual nature of her music.
The artist – who sings in both the English and Spanish language – combines her Latin roots with her love of R&B, pop and hip-hop, and has cultivated a diehard online following of over 3 million online fans and counting. In the past 6 months, she has grossed over 1.5 million followers on TikTok, in addition to over 45 million streams to date, with almost 900K YouTube subscribers. Her first single “i don’t think i love you anymore,” released in October, has over 4 million YouTube views to date, with track “no importa,” taken from her debut EP ‘antisocial butterfly’, gaining half a million views in its first week.
Alaina has also been making waves across Southeast Asia, with notable interviews on top radio stations across the region including Hitz and Fly FM (Malaysia) as well as publications such as Esquire Singapore and Bandwagon Asia, just to name a few.
