As the Department of Health Secretary, Francisco Duque III should be an advocate and a role model to Filipino citizens especially in the proper way of wearing masks.
But when the Duque was seen wearing a mask the wrong way, celebrities like Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado, who has been recently trending for her strong stance on the current issues, immediately called out the secretary’s mistake.
On the Twitter account of Jennylyn, she retweeted a headline of PhilStar news where Duque claimed that the country had flattened the curve but people didn’t agree with this.
Even saying that the Health Secretary should do his job well, Jennylyn said, “What did we expect? Magsuot nga ng mask ng maayos hindi niya magawa.”

According to the World Health Organization, masks are only effective if they cover the ears, nose mouth, and chin.
And no matter how tempting it may be to remove the mask for a moment, it could expose your fingers and face to the very virus you ‘re trying to avoid.
Netizens were also quick to agree and bash the Health Secretary for his negligence in using his mask.
Parepareho sila! Tangol pa more! D na talaga ako magtataka na lalong dumadami ang kaso. Jusme! Health Sec bakit po? Naalala ko tuloy yung Health Minister ng New Zealand nagresign kasi may kahihiyan. Dito sa Pinas ang kapal talaga! 😤🤨 #OnlyInThePhilippines pic.twitter.com/sR70AHTW1K

Different reactions came from netizens, personalities, and celebrities when the Health Secretary reported that the Philippines had “successfully flattened” the COVID-19 pandemic curve since April when more cases of the disease have been documented in recent days.
Doctor Tony Leachon, who just recently resigned from the Department of Health following his “episodic emotional outburst” on social media due to frustration at the Department of Health (DOH) results, refuted the health chief‘s statement.
I don’t think we have flattened the curve based on our increase in cases , number of deaths , and full critical care capacity of NCR and Cebu hospitals. Perhaps DOH should review their own data tp guide IATF , whole goverment and the public of the situation. https://t.co/FcmwQ7hbJ0
