On Instagram, Kapamilya actor Tony Labrusca argued with a certain Richard Bolisay who said that the actor only serves the LGBTQIA+ audience with his desirable looks
Bolisay said, “Ang concern ko lang naman..bakit natin ino-overstate yung desirability ni Tony Labrusca sa gay audience eh looks lang naman ang siniserve niya at hindi lang naman looks ang hinahanap natin.”
This annoyed the actor who denied this and even stated that the members of the LGBT community are actually his most hateful bashers.
“I don’t really understand where u got the notion that ‘the gays’ are overstating my ‘desirability’ cuz from my own experience, I love the LGBT community & fans however the LGBT community are also my most hateful bashers lol. Who love to assume my sexuality and poke fun at it.”
Bolisay in reply stated that he is not directly referring to Labrusca but rather the image he represents. The actor countered this since still used as an example of “looks lng siniserve.”
“Exactly, you do not understand. I understand because this comes from the community to which I belong. Also, there is no implied animosity in the tweet, whether from my end or the others. The tweet speaks of you but, as an argument, it is not even about you lol”
“It’s not about me, however, you used me as an example and said ‘looks lang ang siniserve ko’ lol I’m not taking any offense to that but if that’s your point then ok,” Labrusca argued.
“I used you as an example to criticize the image you represent. That’s the image you put across. It’s not about you personally. Kung kasing pogi mo lang ako, I’d tell the writers to give me characters with talent, rather than capitalize heavily on how I look. Kaso di ako pogi.”
This argument may have something to do with Labrusca’s new Boys’ Love (BL) series “Hello Stranger, where he is involved in a same-sex relationship with JC Alcantara’s character.
Despite the negativity from some netizens, Labrusca hoped that this series will serve as a way for viewers to better understand and accept this kind of relationship. And may this also be a way for people struggling with their identity to not hinder themselves from opening up.
Tony Labrusca was first known as a commercial model via Mcdonald’s Tuloy Pa Rin advertisement. He joined the reality singing competition ‘Pinoy Boyband Superstar where he ended up as one of the finalists. He later made his acting debut in TV5’s Wattpad Presents.
And now he is starring in a digital BL series titled ‘Hello Stranger,’ it is available through Black Sheep’s official Facebook page and YouTube account.
