Angel Locsin came to the rescue of Sarah Geronimo after the singer-actress spoke up in defense of ABS-CBN, a network that has been home to both of them and several others for years.
Angel recently attracted the attention of the online community because of her viral speech at the ABS-CBN rally. She called out to her fellow Kapamilya stars who were quiet in the middle of the network’s struggles with its franchise application.
While it’s widely known that Sarah doesn’t involve herself on social media much, many still bashed her for her silence on ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
In a comment on Instagram, Locsin denied that she was referring to the “Tala” hit-maker when she called on her fellow artists to speak up.
“Nagsalita si Sarah (smiley) iniisip ng tao na pinaparinggan ko sya, pero hindi eh. I know how ‘pure’ she is. Wala siyang social media, alam rin nating hindi sya vocal sa maraming bagay bilang ang bait. Pero nagsalita siya at nakakatuwa yun.“
Through a separate Instagram Post, Locsin also thanked Geronimo for speaking up and sharing her support for the network , particularly in this trying times.
Netizens also tweeted their frustration when they felt that Angel was indirectly throwing shade at Sarah for not standing up for ABS-CBN.

Sarah’s fans were upset with what seemed to be a callout for their idol and resolved to protect her “at all cost.”
In a rare move, Sarah finally broke her silence on the ABS-CBN shutdown and released a statement on Instagram.
“Hindi ko man po alam ang buong detalye kung bakit [‘di] na muli nabigyan ng prankisa ang ABS-CBN… hindi ko man po naiintindihan lahat pero gusto ko po iparating ang aking pagsaludo sa mga haligi ng ABS-CBN para sa kanilang paglaban ng disente at mapagkumbaba sa harap ng ating mga lawmakers.”

She also posted a screenshot of her statement in the same post where she expressed appreciation to the network for promoting her career and called for another chance for ABS-CBN.
“Mahal ko po ang aking ABS-CBN family. Mahalaga po sa akin ang bawat empleyado na labis na nagdadalamhati ngayon dahil sa kawalan ng trabaho, Ako po si Sarah Geronimo, [‘di] lamang artista, isa ring mamayang Pilipino na umaapila para sa mga labis na apektado ng COVID-19.”
