Kapamilya actress Ria Atayde will be hosting an upcoming morning talk show called Rise and Shine on TV5.
She will be working with co-hosts Pokwang and Pauleen Luna Sotto.
ABS-CBN is said to have already released the contracts of its employees and talents because of the halting of production of ABS-CBN Current Affairs programs. With this, ABS-CBN revoked the non-compete clause in their employees’ contracts allowing them to apply even with their rival networks.
With the shut down of the media giant ABS-CBN, Kapamilya artists are now looking for other places where they can continue with their jobs. They will still need to earn money to make a living despite the crisis that their network is suffering.
Kapamilya artists will continue to support the ABS-CBN network even if they decided to accept job offers from other networks. The network’s talents will stand by ABS-CBN and to the 11,000 people who lost their jobs due to the network’s shutdown.
TV5 has already revealed Atayde’s pictorial for the morning show which is produced and directed by Mike Tuviera of APT Entertainment.

According to Atayde’s handler Cris Navarro, she will remain a contract artist of the Kapamilya network’s Star Magic talent pool. The handler said that Star Magic has already worked with APT Entertainment before and that it was looking for recommendations that’s why Ria was chosen.
“Star Magic has worked with APT before. Less than two weeks ago, they asked us to recommend some names and Ria was chosen,” she said.
Before Atayde, the production team earlier considered Kisses Delavin and Janella Salvador as the third host for the show. Ria was able to get the part and even though she was overwhelmed by the negotiation in the spot for the third host, she was happy that she will be able to work with friends.
Even though ABS-CBN has already suspended the management/talent contract of its artists, those who belong to Star Magic will still be managed by the network’s talent management arm that’s why Atayde will remain a contract artist of Star Magic talent pool.
ABS-CBN network has been suffering financially since its shutdown on May 5. According to the report, ABS-CBN employees agreed to 50% pay cuts on their salary to help the company continue with its operations but it was further reduced to 25% or just cash assistance because of the network’s issues with their finances with the delay of their franchise.
With this ABS-CBN stars were given the permission to accept offers from other networks, given that they should first talk to the management before they make their decision.
Former Kapamilya stars Pokwang and Jessy Mendiola already jumped ship and will now be seen on the subsidiary of TV5 network, Cignal Entertainment.
Jessy will star in her own wellness program, Fit for Life, under Cignal Entertainment. Jessy ended the rumors of her leaving Star Magic by confirming it at a press conference.
She said that she asked for permission from the management properly and they supported her decision saying that it will happen eventually because artists tend to explore new things with their career.
“Nagpaalam ako nang maayos. And sila Mr. M [Johnny Manahan], Tita Mariole [Alberto], they were very understanding. Sabi nila sa akin, ‘Dadating talaga sa point na ganyan, e.’ Kasi, marami din naman talagang artista na nag-try na mag-explore sa ibang bagay. So, pinayagan nila ako. Walang struggle or whatever,” she said.
Pokwang will be co-hosting a new game show, Fill in the Banks, with Jose Manalo, created by Mike Tuviera’s APT Entertainment. She will also be teaming up with Pauleen Luna and Ria Atayde for APT’s Rise and Shine daily morning series.
TV industry insiders are hoping that Rise and Shine, which begins airing mid-August, will offer new employment opportunities for the ABS-CBN employees who lost their jobs. TV5 programming consultant Perci Intalan told ABS-CBN News that the station is open to block timers and co-produced shows with other industry players.
Even though Atayde will already be having her show on TV5 network, she still shows her undying support for ABS-CBN through her posts on Twitter.

Lalaban tayo.
