Chinita Princess Kim Chiu is one of the Kapamilya stars who is very outspoken about supporting ABS-CBN in its fight for a fresh 25-year franchise.
However, as her home network faces another blow following the two alias cease-and-desist orders of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against TVPlus and Sky Direct, the 30-year-old star chose not to react.
To recall, the Love Thy Woman star became the target of criticisms online for her viral classroom analogy.
It all started when some Kapamilya stars gathered together for a #LabanKapamilya Facebook Live protest last May 8 to air their sentiments and heartaches following the network’s shutdown.
Here, Chiu compared the national laws to classroom rules that were made and should be followed by everyone, equally.
However, the Chinita star failed to explain her analogy right, hence, she got bashed.
“Boba,” “tanga,” “artista lang,” and “mamatay ka sana sa COVID-19” were some of the insults she received from the netizens and DDS trolls.
Her epic statement became the subject of memes and even spawned dance challenges online.
The actress admitted that she was really affected to the point that she had to take a break in order to regain her emotional strength.
But, instead of drowning herself in self-pity, the former housemate and Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 1 took advantage of the situation and released “Bawal Lumabas” song and merch. She even had the chance to sing her own rendition of “Bawal Lumabas” on the Wish Bus which she admitted was one of her aspirations and that became an emotional moment for her. The video immediately earned millions of views, but she earned more dislikes rather than likes in reaction.
On Instagram, Chiu’s sister Lakambini shared a behind-the-scene peek at the performance of the award-winning actress on Wish, showing Chiu on the verge of breaking down while singing her song.
Despite all the criticisms and hate, she has received, the Kapamilya actress was able to stand up and bounce back from that traumatizing experience.
So as not to experience the same thing she went through from judgemental netizens, Chiu chose not to voice out her opinions anymore when the NTC order was released against TV Plus as well as the SKY Direct.
In one of her recent posts on her Instagram Story, the “Wala Man Sayo Ang Lahat” singer shared the official statement from ABS-CBN regarding the CDO from NTC that was released on June 30.
The Kapamilya star said that she wanted to say something about the issue, however, she is not as brave as before in sharing her thoughts following her traumatizing experience. “Gusto mo magsalita pero di mo magawa, May takot, kaba, trauma….” she said.
She revealed that she was saddened by the news and with all her might tried to keep herself from voicing out her thoughts. She did let it slip that lawmakers are already taking things personally.
“Nakakalungkot na pinagdadaan ng lahat ng kapamilya ito. Ayaw ko man isipin pero parang personalan na… wala akong tinutukoy, eto lamang ay nasa isip ko lang…. grabe lang. Grabe,” she simply said.
