Showbiz personalities Jennylyn Mercado, Kim Chiu, and Alessandra de Rossi can’t help but react to the ballooning government debts which already reached 9 trillion pesos.
In her tweet, Jennylyn asked if the government was able to release a breakdown on where the loans were used.

Kim Chiu in a now-deleted tweet on the other hand also asked where did the 9 trillion in loans go.

In a report by GMA News, the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) has disclosed that the national government’s outstanding debt has ballooned to a record P9.054 trillion, surpassing the P9-trillion mark, as of the end of June 2020.
The government’s borrowing was ramped-up by loans for COVID-19 response and its current figure is pegged 1.8% higher than the end of May debt which is P8.890 trillion and 15.1% higher YoY compared to June 2019.
Meanwhile, senators Risa Hontiveros, Ralph Recto, Sonny Angara, Ping Lacson, Frank Drilon, Kiko Pangilinan, and Leila De Lima have filed a resolution calling on the Commission on Audit (COA) to investigate and review government’s spending with regards to the COVID-19 response.

There were allegations of COVID-19 funds misuse in the procurement of PPEs, laboratory equipment, and other medical supplies which according to several reports were overpriced.
