Kapuso star Jennylyn Mercado showed her support for rival network ABS-CBN by calling out those people who were rejoicing with the decision to vote against the franchise renewal of the network.
Some may sympathize with the network but there are also some who are happy with the news and are celebrating with the network’s permanent shutdown.
The artist expressed her standpoint on the issue through her post on Facebook.

Her post was put up hours after the house committee on legislative franchise denied the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
“Sa mga lumuha at nawalan, our prayers and hearts are with you.
Sa mga taong tuwang tuwa sa mga pangyayari, huwag niyo sana danasin ang lumuha din at mawalan” she said.
But the artist also called out those people who were celebrating with the denial of a franchise renewal of the network. “Hindi ba na tinuruan tayo ng ating mga magulang na maging makatao sa kapwa?
“Rejoicing because of other people’s sorrow is not only wrong, but inhumane. You are cruel,” she added.
She wanted to remind people that the act of goodness and being compassionate towards others must always be practiced in our daily lives. She pointed out that the people who were happy with the news are cruel as they show no care at all for the thousands of jobs that are at risk in the middle of a pandemic.
Jennylyn proved that she puts high value in the humanitarian of individuals as she continues to preach in being kind to others and showing respect as well.
The same with what she posted two months ago where she encouraged the people to remain accepting and respectful of other people’s opinions even if it goes against their belief.

She wanted to remind the people to not let the negativity in social media affect their ability to distinguish right from wrong. That mankind’s greatest threat right now is not each other, but the virus COVID-19 which threatens our lives up to this day.
“Just because you disagree with the opinion of others, doesn’t give you the right to belittle or make fun of anyone.” Jennylyn said.
Jennylyn Mercado garnered recognition at a young age for her acting performances on television and film. She starred in multiple commercially successful films, including English Only, Please (2014), The Prenup (2015), Walang Forever (2015), and Just the 3 of Us (2016). She recently starred in GMA network’s drama action series Descendants of the Sun which is an adaptation from a South Korean drama of the same title.
