PNP chief Police Gen. Archie Gamboa said on Wednesday that the birthday “manañita” incident of Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas is no longer an issue.
“The mañanita, I think, is a closed issue,” said the PNP chief.
Gamboa, however, did not explain his statement further. But he pleaded with the public to stop focusing on the incident and be more understanding of the drawbacks of the law enforcers.
Celebrities and netizens did not share the same opinion that it was a “closed issue.”

Delicadeza and accountability went out the door. Why the door? Precisely because those words are big. 😅 https://t.co/awlBJ4P6U4

ULOOOOOOL.
They violated quarantine protocols and didn't get any punishment while ordinary citizens get detained, and even harassed, just for trying to make ends meet during a pandemic.
More understanding my ass. https://t.co/31pcRc4gUQ

“Be more understanding of the shortcomings of the law enforcers” while imposing the “strictest standards and heaviest penalty” on ordinary citizens who only ask for a more just, fair, compassionate & equal government?
Sorry, Sir but we cannot just let you go off the hook. Never! https://t.co/CTGJ8mWeH6

Were they more understanding of people exercising their right to protest? Nope. They just arrested them without an actual law to be charged ✨ https://t.co/l4z9sVnqel

Why not? This is definitely ONE of the highlights of the whole lockdown. People were suffering, family members were dying but the supposedly leaders were caught violating the protocols. https://t.co/3J2j9pLcKJ

Photos of Sinas and friends without masks and no social distancing during a “manañita” to celebrate Sinas’s birthday on May 8 went viral when they were uploaded online.
The Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office charged Sinas and companions a criminal case for violating quarantine protocols stated in the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act and Taguig City Ordinance No. 12 Series 2020 which requires wearing of masks and practice of social distancing.
Meanwhile, Sinas is once again involved in an issue after he, together with his armed police team in camouflage uniform, attempted to forcefully evict the family of the retired Police officer, Arnel Delos Santos from their house at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig on July 19.
