Jake Cuenca is one of the celebrities who have been vocal about defending the country’s largest network, ABS-CBN. The network was forced to shut down on May 5 and was denied a franchise renewal by Congress.
ABS-CBN has already suspended the management/talent contract of its artists.This happened after the network decided to halt its current affairs shows, teleseryes, and some entertainment programs according to reports.
ABS-CBN has been bleeding financially since its May 5 shutdown with ABS-CBN employees agreeing to 50% to 25% pay cuts on their salary or just cash assistance to help the company continue with its operations.
Some netizens on social media assumed that Jake is being paid by ABS-CBN in exchange for his support. But the male star denied this saying it was his own decision and admitted that his contract is actually canceled now.
He retweeted the post of a netizen and said, “Nothing, not a cent. In fact, my contract is canceled. I might have been paid to go to Q “Nothing, not a cent. In fact, my contract is canceled. In a separate Tweet, Jake explained why he kept fighting for the network which he considers as his home. He revealed that the media network boosted his career just as he was losing hope.
“I’ve been in abs for 14 years straight. Before I got here I was just about to migrate to Spain because I couldn’t even call acting a career till ABS-CBN gave me a shot. I’m fighting for abs-cbn, ABS-CBN is my home,” he said.

In one of his recent tweets, Jake encouraged those who support ABS-CBN despite the situation.
He posted: “HOME. ❤️💚💙Goodnight guys if I learned anything today is that we are not alone hindi dapat tayo matakot marami po tayo at dapat ipaglaban natin and bahay natin kapmailya po tayo forever. ❤️💚💙”

Jake is an actor and model. At a young age, he started out doing commercials and he later appeared on the 1997 film version of Wansapanataym Takbo Barbara Takbo and Panday in 1998 under Star Cinema of ABS-CBN.
In 2003, he returned to show business under GMA Network and starred in several drama series including Hanggang Kailan, Forever in My Heart, Love to Love, Encantadia, and Majika.
He decided to transfer to ABS-CBN in 2006 and he first appeared in an episode of Love Spell, “Sweet Sixty”. He starred in different series like Sana Maulit Muli, Lastikman, Tayong Dalawa, Green Rose, Maria Mercedes, Pasión de amor, and Los Bastardos.
