Actress Angel Locsin showed her gratitude for her fellow Kapamilya stars Sarah Geronimo and Nadine Lustre for speaking up regarding the network’s fight for a fresh franchise.
Angel has been very vocal about the issues that ABS-CBN is facing and has been urging other Kapamilya artists to speak up as well.
The actress recently unleashed her fury on fellow ABS-CBN artists who have remained silent in the wake of the network’s shutdown. She addressed the crowd who gathered for a noise barrage on July 18 in front of the ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City and urged fellow Kapamilya artists to speak since they no longer have a career or image to protect.
“Sa mga kapwa kong artistang hindi nagsasalita…Wala na kayong network!” she shouted.
She mentioned that she understands the side of other artists who preferred to be silent regarding the issue because they intend to be neutral about it. But Angel said that if they continue to keep their mouths shut, it means that they take the side of what is wrong.
“Naiintindihan ko, tayong mga artista, expected na dapat tahimik lang tayo. Dapat sweet lang tayo, dapat neutral para walang kalaban. Pero pag hindi tayo nagsalita, ibig sabihin no’n, kinampihan natin ang mali.” Angel said.
Angel’s speech served as a wake-up call for other artists to break their silence and speak up about the issue as well.
Sarah Geronimo released a statement via Instagram and Angel thanked her saying, “Thank you, Sarah G. Mahal kita.”
Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo posted her thoughts on the rejection of ABS-CBN franchise renewal. She said that despite the negative news, people should still trust in God for He has a plan for everything and is always in control. Sarah said that the ABS-CBN network will still continue to be in service of Filipinos worldwide.

Sarah G’s post consists of different quotes from the bible about rejection, faith, and God’s plan for the people. She wanted to let the people know that everything happens for a reason and even though ABS-CBN suffered a great setback, it will rise again someday because nothing is permanent. She said that with God, any situation can be turned around only if people will continue to have faith in Him.
Sarah is known for being private or low-key with her personal life and does not usually post on her social media accounts. Even though she is not as vocal as other artists, she wanted to show that she stands with the ABS-CBN network.
Angel also thanked Nadine Lustre for the support that she has given to the network.
“Salamat, @nadine,” she wrote.
Nadine posted a series of messages on her Instagram stories assuring everyone that she supports the ABS-CBN network and is also grieving for the 11,000 employees who lost their jobs. She said that she is not turning a blind eye to the people, instead, she is disheartened by the network’s shut down.
“Gaya ninyo, kapamilya din ako. Gaya ninyo, natatakot din ako sa mga nangyayari. Gaya ninyo nalungkot din ako para sa 11,000+ na taong nawalan ng trabaho. Gaya ninyo, umiiyak ako para sa sariling bansa. Dahil gaya ninyo, Pilipino din ako,” Nadine said.
“Kasama ako sa laban na ito. Patuloy na tumutulong at nagdadasal sa kabila ng pagluluksa,” she added.
Nadine also hoped that people would put their focus on the things that matter instead of fighting with each other. She said that there is no point arguing with each other because the ABS-CBN network and its employees need the support of everyone especially with the situation the people are in right now. People are still suffering from the COVID-19 that is why Nadine wanted the people to help one another.
“Sana ay ibaling natin ang atensiyon natin sa mga bagay na nararapat pagtuunan ng pansin. Pakiusap, huwag tayong magaway away at maghati. Wala na tayong oras,” she said.
It can be remembered that Angel Locsin lambasted a fan of Nadine who said that she is just triggering hate towards his idol.
The 35-year old actress answered back and said that he is just “overacting” and reminded him that she was the one who defended Nadine from the radio host Jobert Sucaldito when the radio host reprimanded Nadine on air with the controversial statement about depression and taking someone’s own life.
Angel said that she loves the radio host and appreciates he has helped her fiance Neil Arce. However, Angel said that Jobert wrongly said his statement against Nadine.
Angel Locsin came to prominence for her television roles as Alwina in the 2004 fantasy-themed television series Mulawin and as the superheroine Darna in the TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo eponymous comic. She recently starred in The General’s Daughter which is a Philippine action drama television series.
