Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards is considered one of the homegrown talents of the media giant, GMA Network.
The “Pambansang Bae” has explained why he chose GMA Network over other networks as the venue for him to grow his career.
Fresh from GMA Network’s 70th year anniversary, Alden shared his road to stardom story. According to him, GMA Network had already given him so much to learn from the time he started his journey.
“Based on the opportunities na ibinigay nila sa akin, ang daming beses na natutunan ko ‘yung sarili ko na ‘di ko akalang kaya kong gawin. Siguro binigyan ako ng GMA ng confidence sa sarili ko na I can do great things with hard work, patience, and faith,” Alden shared.
When he was still trying to penetrate the world of showbiz, he auditioned for Kapamilya reality shows in 2006 when he was 14 years old.
“Ever since naman talaga, before pa ako nag-showbiz at nag-o-audition pa lang ako in different networks, there’s a certain calling na dito ako sa GMA. And then fast forward to ten years after, I am right where I am supposed to be,” the Eat Bulaga host said.
It is no secret that Alden also tried his luck for Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash edition in 2010. However, he did not make the cut.

A year later, in 2011, he was discovered by GMA Network bigwigs, and he got the lead role in the afternoon series, Alakdana. Even though he auditioned to different networks in the past still his heart has chosen GMA to be his home.
He added that he is happy for the fact that he just used to be a Kapuso audience member but now he is one of the Kapuso stars.
Nine years after his failed attempt in Pinoy Big Brother, Alden became part of a Star Cinema movie, but as a Kapuso crossing over to the Kapamilya network.
Star Cinema paired him up with Kathryn Bernardo under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina for Hello, Love, Goodbye. It became the highest-grossing film ever produced in the Philippines with total global earnings of $17 million (₱881 million).
To sum it up, the GMA Network made it possible for Alden Richards’ showbiz breakthrough, yet it is Star Cinema who gave him his blockbuster movie. Indeed, a win-win situation for our Pambansang bae.
