- It’s Showtime has returned on June 13, Saturday
Noontime variety It’s Showtime is set to return soon on TV along with other Kapamilya shows after nearly three months of absence. It will resume airing its live episodes on June 13, Saturday on the Kapamilya channel and Jeepney TV. Following one of its major changes due to the “new normal”, the show won’t welcome a live audience into its Quezon City studio.
In a live online press gathering held on Wednesday, June12, the It’s Showtime hosts talked about the return of the show.
Comedian and host Vhong Navarro said he is still worried about things that are still uncertain despite the show’s comeback.
For weeks during the lockdown and prior to the government closure of ABS-CBN’s broadcasting operations, It’s Showtime shifted to bring entertainment through other platforms.
On its return, It’s Showtime will offer fresh segments which include “1ted: Now Hiring”, “PamilyaNaryo”, and “Super Fiestars” wherein contestants will participate either virtually or in person.
The host admitted that they missed entertaining a live audience or “madlang people” in the studio.
He said,”Triny namin via Zoom magpasaya pero kulang, hinahanap talaga yung makita kaming live sa studio at eto na ‘yon. Yung mga segments talagang pinag-isipan para lang mapasaya sila at makatulong at the same time.”
“For 10 years nasanay kaming may audience,” Vhong noted.
Vhong was asked how does he feels knowing that entertainment is not prioritized these days. As an artist, Vhong said this somewhat upsets him.
Pinaka-affected dito yung mga per day nagtratrabaho.
Vhong hopes that It’s Showtime performers like XB GenSan, Hashtags and Bidaman will join the show soon.
It’s Showtime premiered on October 24, 2009. After 10 years,it stopped airing its live episodes on TV due to the imposed enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to curb the spread of COVID-19. It was furthered delayed by ABS-CBN’s shutdown on May 5.
