Romnick Sarmenta has asked for respect from his followers on his latest Instagram story after rumors of his relationship with Barbara Ruaro spread online.
Barbara is a model and an indie actress cast in the iWant digital series Tapes (2020) and Past, Present, Perfect (2019).
Meanwhile, Romnick is best known as a ’90s matinee idol who is part of ABS-CBN’s primetime series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Netizens speculated that the two are in a relationship after both made cryptic posts on social media.
In a series of posts, Romnick shared different Tagalog poems which all hinted that he’s in love with someone. He first shared a cropped photo of a woman holding a bouquet of roses.

Apparently, Barbara’s own Instagram feed also sparked rumors of her being in a romantic relationship.
Many are speculating that the person she named as “N” refers to Romnick.
“Thank you N. You make my heart swell,” she captioned a photo of herself holding a bouquet of flowers.

With the controversy and comments he has received online, Romnick was prompted to release a statement regarding the ongoing rumors.
He asked his followers to be respectful when they comment on his posts.
He stated on his Instagram story, “The simple truth is that no matter who I end up with, people will have things to say. If you are a supporter, I appreciate you. I do. But I also believe that true supporters know how to respect those they support…. and that means being respectful when they comment on their posts. Especially when they are about other people that you know nothing about. Or the circumstances in their life.
“Respect begets respect.”
It was in 2018 when Romnick separated from his wife of 19 years, Harlene Bautista. The pair have 5 children together.
