“Nandito lang po ako, kahit anong mangyari” – these were the words of Kapamilya star Maymay Entrata to her on-screen love team partner Edward Barber.
In the episode of Magandang Buhay on Tuesday, June 16, the 23-year-old singer-model shared how she celebrated her birthday last May 6.
She admitted that she felt sad as she wasn’t able to celebrate her birthday with her family due to the imposed lockdown but she chose to stay optimistic and drew herself closer to God more.
Also, she said she took some inspiration from frontliners who risked their own safety in order to serve others.
She said, “Masasabi ko talaga na tinest ni God ang faith ko, ‘yung pasensiya ko. Kasi ito ‘yung birthday na planado ko na lahat. Dapat may pupuntahan ako kasama ang pamilya ko pero hindi ko sila napuntahan. Hindi ko sila nakasama.
“Nakakalungkot siyempre pero humuhugot ako ng lakas doon sa mga taong sinakripisyo ang buhay nila para sa kaligtasan natin, ‘yun po yung frontliners. Kasama na rin ‘yung apektado sa pandemic.
“Kaya feeling ko wala akong karapatang maging malungkot kasi mas malungkot pa ‘yung pinagdaanan nila. Saka ang laki ng problema nila, kaysa sa pinoproblema ko lang ‘yung selebrasyon ng birthday ko. Saka ang priority ko ngayon ay ‘yung health ng bawat isa, ‘yung safe ‘yung pamilya ko, doon okay na ako. Saka gusto ko lang magpasalamat sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin kasi sa kabila nang mga nangyayari, sa sitwasyon natin ngayon, ay nagawa pa rin nila na ibigay ‘yung pagmamahal o suporta nila sa akin nung birthday ko po,” she went on.
When asked for a reaction about Edward’s sweet message for her on her birthday on Instagram, Maymay admitted that she appreciated it and he will always be her friend.

“Si Edward, kahit ano naman po ang mangyari talaga, isa siya talaga sa kaibigan ko kahit anong mangyari. Kaya na-appreciate ko po ‘yung ginawa niya, ‘yung message niya,” she said.
“Saka wish ko rin sa kanya na maging mabuti (ang kalagayan niya) saan man siya magpunta,” she added.
Furthermore, the ‘Kakayanin Kaya’ singer assured that as a friend, she will also be there for Barber no matter what happens, “Nandito lang po ako, kahit anong mangyari.”
The MayWard love team was formed inside the Pinoy Big Brother House in 2016 during Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7. Their undeniable chemistry and ‘kilig’ vibes made them one of the popular and bankable love teams of the Kapamilya Network. They worked together on several TV programs and films including La Luna Sangre, Hiwaga ng Kambat, Da One That Ghost Away, and Loving in Tandem.
Despite the ‘mutual feelings’ they have for each other, the duo decided to just remain ‘best of friends’ as it will benefit them both.
Their joint statement made many of their fans sad and dismayed but the MayWard tandem promised that despite revealing the true score between the two of them, they will still work together as “there is no one else we would rather work with than each other.”
However, days after they released their joint statement, supporters and followers of Entrata and Barber were shocked and confused when the former deleted her love team photos with the latter from her Instagram account.
It was also rumored that Barber hurt Entrata’s feelings, the reason why she doesn’t want to further her relationship with the 19-year-old male star anymore.
Despite their heartbreaking revelation to their fans, it seems that the two young stars are on good terms as Barber was still able to post a sweet birthday message for his on-screen partner.
Alongside a beautiful photo of Entrata, the MYX VJ described his partner as a ‘bright star of hope’ and promised that he’s got her back through the good times and the bad.
Their fans are still hoping that the two will eventually find their way back to each other.
