Multi-award-winning Kapamilya actor John Lloyd Cruz recently urged the Filipinos, especially Cebuanos, to cooperate and fight against the spread of COVID -19 in the country.
Cruz joined several celebrities who are educating and helping the Filipinos amidst the pandemic and community quarantine.
Previously, Cruz donated boxes of vitamins for children and health workers in Guadalupe, Cebu. Aside from this, he was also seen having a meeting with barangay officials to organize a possible project for the youth in the province.
In a campaign video of the University of the Philippines Medical Alumni Society – Cebu Chapter, the actor called on Cebuanos to observe necessary precautions to lessen the spread of the deadly virus.
“Magsuot ho tayo ng face mask. Maghugas lagi ng kamay. Manatili po tayo sa ating mga balay (bahay). At kung kinakailangan po lumabas, sundin po ang social distancing. Naay paglaum. Kita ang paglaum. (There is hope. We are the hope),” he said.
Many were not surprised by Cruz’s decision to stay in the province amid the COVID-19 pandemic. His ex-partner Ellen Adarna is from Cebu and Cruz shares custody of their son Elias Modesto with her. Some reports said that he has been staying in Guadalupe since the start of the enhanced community quarantine
The COVID-19 confirmed cases in Cebu spiked just these past few weeks. As of June 26, Cebu City currently has the most number of COVID-19 cases among Philippine cities at 6,897.
