Singer-songwriter Daryl Ong recently explained his absence from ABS-CBN. On June 15, Ong posted a video blog that narrated the events that led to him and Bugoy Drilon being banned from their home network.
Ong and Drilon were reportedly banned for dismissing the results of a petition for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
This confession set the online world abuzz and caught the attention of comedian John Lapus who posted a cryptic statement on his Twitter account.
In his post, he highlighted that being grateful is a virtue and captioned a reminder that though it is understandable that losing a job can be difficult.
He wrote, “Never bite the hand that feeds (or even fed) you because #UtangNaLoobIsAVirtue
“Ganito lang kasimple. Naiintindihan ko ang gutom sa kawalan ng trabaho pero madaming paraan para magkatrabaho. Tandaan nyo yan!” he added.

Lapus as well countered Bryan Termulo when the singer expressed that he understands what Ong feels. Lapus said that what happened to Termulo is no way near to Ong’s issue.
Naku @bryantermulo iba kayo ng experience. Alam ko nangyari sayo. Promise. Kilala ko ako. Madami akong alam. https://t.co/AgIbyjlgZA

Many other netizens also shared their disappointment with the incident as they claimed it appeared to be an ungrateful act of the artists towards their home network in spite of the opportunities that were given to them.
They further added that they displayed a lack of support and loyalty to ABS-CBN especially in this crucial time when it is battling for its franchise renewal in Congress.

Normal na reaction yun ng network. No matter how hopeless the situation maybe,GOOD MORAL dictates that one would ONLY have GOOD WORDS and FULL SUPPORT to the HAND that feeds you,, otherwise para ka lang palang ahas na nanunuklaw? Diba Daryl ong?

This Daryl Ong issue, this man just buried his own career. In the entertainment industry, you don't ever burn bridges regardless of who is at fault. Only Regine Velasquez can transfer stations without hurting her career. Regine ka ba? Leave the station as gracefully as possible.

According to Ong, he and his fellow artist Drilon ended up being banned from ABS-CBN due to a discussion that led to the ongoing ABS-CBN franchise issue.
He and his fellow band members were on a trip to an event at Iloilo when they had a conversation about investing in stocks which later involved the nonrenewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.
It was about how ABS-CBN is losing in its online petition after only getting 60,000 signatures out of the 1 million goal. Ong stated that the huge gap will make it impossible for the network to reach its target.
Unknowingly the conversation was recorded and was handed over to one of the ABS-CBN executives, which resulted in them being banned from all ABS-CBN projects.
John Lapus or Sweet first started his career as a researcher of ABS-CBN talk show ‘Showbiz Lingo’. He is known for his various roles as he is an actor, host, director, and comedian.
