Former journalist Jay Sonza published a Facebook post with fake claims against his former network ABS-CBN.
In the post, Sonza exposed what he claimed is the true history of ABS-CBN.
“Setting the record & history straight. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, the epicenter of Lopez Empire was sequestered, mothballed, and confiscated in favor of the Philippine government 1972, because of the following reasons.
“The Lopez’s failed to meet their financial obligations of US$600 million or about PH30 billion pesos (sovereign) guaranteed by the government of the Republic of the Philippines.”
Sonza also claimed that Eugenio “Geny” Lopez Jr. partnered with Sergio Osmena III to assassinate former President Ferdinand Marcos, “The owners (Eugenio Lopez Jr., Sergio Osmena III, et al) in partnership with the Aquinos and the CPP-NPA were charged and found guilty of attempted assassination of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos.”
Marcos died in Honolulu in1989 from cardiac arrest after a number of illnesses, and not an assassination attempt. His remains were even buried at the new site of the National Heroes ‘ Cemetery in Manila, also requested by President Rodrigo Duterte.
“ABS CBN was given back to the Lopez’s on a silver platter in 1986 by then Pres. Cory Aquino without paying a single centavo to the Philippine government who paid their US$600 Million loans to the Development Bank of the Philippines.
“ABS CBN was not shutdown because of Martial Law or curtailment of press freedom. umutang, nanuba at nakipagsabwatan sa mga komunista upang patayin ang tumulong sa kanila para makautang at lumawak ang kanilang negosyo.”
Sonza’s claims caught the attention of netizens and ABS-CBN employees who found his post bizarre and full of false information.
Roxy Liquigan, head of the ABS-CBN Music ecosystem and a homegrown Kapamilya executive, tagged the former journalist who was a former Kapamilya as “FAKE NEWS KING”.
“Ang ubod ng sinungaling na si Jay Sonza. kampon ng kadiliman. Kadiri. #FAKENEWSKING”
Media Relations Officer James Banaag retweeted a tweet (which was later taken down) of Sonza’s claims.

As of this writing, the post has garnered 11,000 likes and reactions with almost 6,500 shares and 1,600 comments.
This wasn’t the first time Sonza has been flagged for spreading disinformation on social media.
In the spirit of disinformation, he said that ABS-CBN had NOT delivered and handed over 1,000 sacks of rice to the local government of Malolos.
However, ABS-CBN Foundation delivered its first P100 M worth of goods to LGUs for fellow Filipinos affected by quarantine.
Over 200,000 families across Metro Manila will soon receive food and supplies purchased through donations to the Pantawid ng Pag-ibig network campaign.
Chinita Princess Kim Chiu was also a victim of Sonza who said the ambush that the actress figured in was scripted.
“Kim is a product of bahay ni Kuya PBB Teen edition and one of the most bankable artists and a contract artist of the Kapamilya network.”
Sonza also falsely claimed that CNN Philippines would stop operations because some of its employees tested positive for coronavirus.
Netizens have tagged him as Fake News King for his numerous fake news.
