Actress Carmi Martin on Facebook showed her patriotism as she said, “Ako ay Pilipino at ako ay makabayan.”
She further proved this when she posted a statement opposing the possibility of the Philippines becoming a province of China.
“Hindi ko po gusto na maging Province of China ang Pilipinas.”
However, this did not go well with Vivian Velez, who is a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, as she called out the attention of her fellow actress and reiterated that there is no truth behind her claim.

Velez commented on the said post but it was later deleted by Martin.
To clear things up, Martin explained that her statement is not because she is a supporter of the Liberal Party ‘Dilawan’ but rather she just dislikes China, as she said “sorry to erase your comments pero hindi ako dilaw. I just don’t like China.”
The issue raised was regarding the geotag “Philippines, Province of China,” which surfaced online and provoked an uproar among netizens. This started when President Rodrigo Duterte who has a strong relationship with China jokingly said in his February 2018 speech that the Philippines is better off if it becomes a province of the country.
Another disagreement between the two is with regard to the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise. Martin being with the showbiz industry for four decades showed her support for ABS-CBN, as she sent messages of hope and prayers for the network.

On the other hand, Velez disapproves of ABS-CBN’s renewal and she went against Congress for granting a provisional franchise to ABS-CBN. She stated that providing a provisional franchise to the network is illegal and that Congress be abolished for doing so.
