The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant effect on the entertainment industry, one of which is the suspension of television shows in the country which will have a negative influence on celebrities and staff.
According to Abante Tonite Ph, there are rumors that all GMA 7 artists have reduced their talent fees.
If this is true big contract stars like Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Jennylyn Mercado, and Alden Richards may have reduced talent fees now.
Last March, the network announced that it would temporarily suspend the production of its shows following an Enhanced Community Quarantine declaration on Metro Manila.
“Hindi naman binarat kasi matataas naman TF nila. Binawasan kasi walang taping, walang bagong show na iniere.”
But in spite of the wage cuts, the actors and actresses still receive salaries even though they don’t have tapings in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic.
“Kumbaga, wala silang ginagawa, e, guaranteed contract sila. Kahit hindi magtrabaho ay sumusuweldo pa rin sila. Win-win situation ika nga. Lahat naman affected sa COVID -19 crisis.”
Even ABS-CBN celebrities had their talent fees reduced, according to Bandera Ph. It would not be a shock if the talent fees of ABS-CBN artists were reduced especially if the network had shutdown
Congress is still stalling on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal so it is not yet known when the network will return.
According to a talent manager at ABS-CBN, the talents of the network won’t be having an increase in their pay,
“Sana bumalik na ang ABS-CBN 2. Mahirap din ‘pag walang kalabang istasyon. ‘di na magi-increase TF ng mga artists.”
As of now, ABS-CBN will be back on air through their Kapamilya Channel on different cable networks with their series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, Love Thy Woman, and A Soldier’s Heart.
