Several Kapamilya personalities and netizens blasted Jay Sonza after he attacked ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Gabby Lopez and his citizenship.
In a tweet, Wednesday, June 3, Sonza joked about Lopez’s citizenship saying the former ABS-CBN chairman is 200% natural born being both 100% Filipino and American.
“gabby Lopez says he is 100% Filipino and 100% American. That makes him 200% natural born. Pak Ganern. abs na, cbn pa.”

Sonza’s tweet came after the Congressional hearing on the ABS-CBN franchise where they discussed Lopez’s citizenship over and over.
Meanwhile, netizens and ABS-CBN personalities reacted to Sonza’s latest outrageous remark.
ABS-CBN journalist Jeff Canoy chided Sonza for his irrational thinking.
“What an irrational number. And I don’t mean the Math.”

Theater actor Bart Guingona meanwhile lectured Sonza saying one can be 100% Filipino by parentage and 100% American by birth.
“You cannot be 50% Filipino and 50% American. IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY! You can be 100% Filipino by parentage and 100% American by birth. Ambobo naman neto.”

Other netizens, on the other hand, just couldn’t believe how Sonza came up with that tweet.
Yeah. That's not how that works, Jay Sonza Bot. pic.twitter.com/EOq7pZ4bSP

So, kung si Jay Sonza, 100% di na makakabalik sa ABS and 100% di na makakabalik sa GMA and 100% di na makakabalik sa Ch 5 and 100% di na makakabalik sa UNTV and 100% di na makakabalik sa Radyo Inquirer, does that make him 500% jobless? Of course that’s not how that works. :p https://t.co/LaqCJGOlFY

Gabby Lopez’s citizenship has already been settled by DOJ.
According to DOJ Usec. Emmyline Aglipay-Villar, Lopez didn’t lose his Filipino citizenship because he was born to Filipino parents. Villar also said that the certificate of recognition issued to him was not a grant but a confirmation of his Filipino citizenship.
“Ang kanyang paggamit ng US passport ay hindi po dahilan para mawala po ang kaniyang Filipino citizenship. At ang hindi naman niya pagkakaroon ng Philippine passport ay hindi rin isang dahilan na hindi siya maging Pilipino,” she said.
Sonza is known for peddling lies and fake news on social media. He has always been critical of ABS-CBN purportedly after he was axed from the station some years ago.
In his latest post on Facebook, Sonza spread a conspiracy theory of what he called the true history of ABS-CBN.
The former broadcaster claimed that ABS-CBN was not shut down during martial law because of the curtailment of press freedom but because of unpaid loans to the government.
“Setting the record & history straight. ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation, the epicenter of Lopez Empire was sequestered, mothballed, and confiscated in favor of the Philippine government 1972, because of the following reasons.
“The Lopez’s failed to meet their financial obligations of US$600 million or about PH30 billion pesos (sovereign) guaranteed by the government of the Republic of the Philippines.”
He even stretched the story by saying Geny Lopez (Gabby Lopez’s father) and Serge Osmena conspired to assassinate the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
Sonza had a slew of fake news posted on his social media accounts. He also claimed ABS-CBN’s Pantawid ng Pag-ibig program didn’t ready gave donations to Malolos, that Kim Chiu’s shooting incident was staged, and other fake news.
