Wowowin host Willie Revillame shot down Harry Roque’s joke about the ABS-CBN franchise.
Roque on Wednesday, May 27, was a guest on Revillame’s show to discuss the government’s plans and programs for the country amid the COVID-19 crisis.
However, before they got to start Roque threw a joke about ABS-CBN’s franchise, which thankfully was handled by Willie decently.
Roque said for the first time ever, it was only Willie who is seen on national TV.
“Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, ikaw lang ang napapanood sa buong bansa,” Roque said.
He then joked that Willie might have something to do with the current problems of ABS-CBN with its franchise.
“Alam mo, duda ko, kaya ‘yung isa nawalan ng prangkisa, ikaw may kagagawan niyan e. Oh, aminin, aminin,” he added.
Being a former Kapamilya, Revillame sidestepped Roque’s joke and defended ABS-CBN instead.
“Malaki din po ang utang na loob ko sa istasyon na yan. Do’n ako nagsimula, do’n ako nakilala, nasa puso ko pa rin ‘yan. Kapamilya, Kapatid, Kapuso, bawat Pilipino. Kaya Sec, wag mo akong idamay. Baka ma-bash po ako. Nanahimik po ako,” Willie said.
Obviously surprised with Willie’s response, Roque then tried to salvage his remark by saying, “Ah oo nga pala..Pero anyway, nag-iisa na lang kayo.”
To which Willie again avoided the topic saying they are there not to talk about any franchise but the future of the country.
“‘Wag na nating pag-usapan ‘yan. Hindi natin paguusapan ang kahit ano mang prangkisa. Ang paguusapan natin dito ay ‘yong ating hinaharap na kinabukasan,” Willie said.
Meanwhile, netizens have praised Willie for his rare class act and slammed Roque for another distasteful joke which he shouldn’t have tried throwing in the first place.
