After the historic ABS-CBN shutdown on May 5, another former Kapamilya shared their story on why they left the giant media network.
TV host and comedian Eagle Riggs revealed the reason behind his decision to leave ABS-CBN, although it was difficult for him to do so back then.
Eagle was one of the celebrities who started with the Kapamilya network. He joined the media company in 1988 after it reopened after being shuttered due to the imposition of Martial Law.
In an interview with Bandila, Eagle said he began his career with ABS-CBN in 1988.
He then served as the editing assistant for Magandang Umaga with executive producer / host Korina Sanchez. In no time, Eagle promoted to segment writer.

He had a bigger break when he joined the talk show Teysi ng Tahanan and anchored the Eagle ‘s Nest cooking segment. At that time, multitasking was the name of the Eagle game.
He was even nominated as Best Game Show Host for ‘Ready Get Set Go‘ which he co-hosted with Eric Quizon and Eula Valdez.
He eventually became the head writer for Mel & Jay. When Mel Tiangco and Jay Sonza left, Eagle agreed to stay as his way to say thank you to the station that gave him the break he wanted.
“I am nothing without ABS-CBN,” Eagle said.
He then finally revealed why he left to jump to the other network.
