Kapamilya host and comedian Ogie Diaz is on a roll again on social media as he continued to defend ABS-CBN from bashers.
In his latest Facebook post, Ogie blasted an unnamed personalities who according to him should just keep silent instead of sowing intrigues and spreading disinformation about the embattled media network.
Ogie advised them to instead make their teleseryes better since they are the only ones who can currently provide entertainment to the people while ABS-CBN is off the air.
“Let the issues be two in congress, ladies. You better make your teleserye better especially when you are temporarily the people expect to provide entertainment while ABS-CBN is not yet on air.
“If you always pay attention to ABS, how can you make your scenes beautiful in your teleserye that your audience has been asking for a long time,” he said.
Since ABS-CBN’s shutdown on May 5, although there are a number of Kapuso, Kapatid and other network celebrities and broadcasters who have shown their support for the Kapamilya network, several others have also continued to wage the network war.
One of the popular Facebook posts against ABS-CBN which other supporters are using to their advantage is the issue of ABS-CBN’s alleged tax avoidance. Some fans through the post are insinuating that ABS-CBN is illegally avoiding paying taxes by using a PEZA accredited sub-contracting company.
Several lawyers and tax experts meanwhile debunked the post as misleading saying that tax avoidance is legal and acceptable in taxation.
Even if it were true that @ABSCBN paid less taxes compared to GMA, it doesn’t mean that it evaded taxes.
Parang ganito lang yan. Hindi dahil binili mo yung Samsonite at full price habang yung kapitbahay mo binili ito at 50% ay ibig sabihin nandaya sya. (yes, may sale ngayon).

Basic rule in taxation law: tax avoidance is legal, tax evasion is illegal.
BIR already cleared ABS-CBN of any tax liability. It is audited by SGV. I'm sure they've looked into Big Dipper and a subsidiary in Hungary.

“It’s easy to say that you have a subsidiary to avoid taxes. If that is the case then why is ABS-CBN a top taxpayer, if their mere intention is to avoid taxes. It’s contradictory, it doesn’t make sense.
“In layman’s terms, ABS-CBN was able to use tax credits in order to reduce (or avoid) tax payments by declaring in their financial reports that they are operating at a loss,” said tax expert Mon Abrea who debunked the misleading Facebook post.
Back to Ogie’s post, he also asked what’s there to be insecure about ABS-CBN given that the Kapamilya network is already off the air. He asked shouldn’t it be ABS-CBN envying other stations because they’re still broadcasting?
“Our industry is small, my friends. You are the ones there. ABS is not yet in the air, so is there a reason for your [anayway]? Is there anyone to be insecure? Nothing, isn’t it? We are the ones who should envy you, right?”
In the end, Ogie said instead of hitting their competitor who’s already on the ground, they should help them to rise. Unless they’re happy seeing their rival bloodied.
“You are getting old so that your opponent will fall instead of raising it up, even if you just raise it up. Unless, again, it’s really in your bones to aspire something bad happen to others.”
