Superstar Nora Aunor aired her statement regarding the shut down of the largest TV network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN.
The Kapamilya network went off air on May 5 in compliance with the cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the expiration of its broadcasting franchise.
As a former Kapamilya, the veteran actress expressed her sadness over the current situation faced by the network.
On Friday, May 22, Kapamilya Online World Facebook page shared her statement which said, “Bilang nagtrabaho rin sa ABS-CBN ng marami ring taon mula pa sa radyo hanggang sa telebisyon ay nakaramdam ako ng lungkot sa pagsasara nito.”
Aunor was also concerned about the fate of the 11,000 workers of ABS-CBN and their families amid the current COVID-19 crisis.
At the end of her statement, the actress said she still hopes that the network would come out of their current situation and save their employees from losing their jobs.

In an interview months ago, Aunor previously stated that she is not taking any sides between the government and the media giant when asked about its impending franchise renewal.
Aunor commented,“ Nasa gobyerno ‘yan e.
Aunor started her career as a singer, after winning a local talent search, Tawag ng Tanghalan, in 1967. She rose to fame in the following years as both a singer and actress. After her film debut All Over the World, she transitioned into heavy drama in films such as Tatlong taong walang Diyos, Himala, and Bona. Her performances in The Flor Contemplacion Story and Thy Womb gave her international and local awards and nominations.
Aunor became a mainstay of GMA Network starting 2018. She portrayed the role of Nelia Dimagiba-Matayog in the Kapuso drama series Onanay in 2018 and starred in the reboot series Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit which premiered this year.
