On May 26, netizens criticized House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta for using Kim Chiu’s viral “Bawal Lumabas” video as a stunt to oppose the ABS-CBN franchise renewal bill, calling his act “distasteful and unprofessional”.
During the House hearing, Marcoleta played Kim’s viral “Bawal Lumabas” video during his opening statement to oppose the franchise renewal of the ABS-CBN network. Then, after showing the viral video, he said “Hindi po nag-comply ang ABS-CBN kaya hindi sila puwedeng lumabas at magpalabas.”
Netizens were not pleased and slammed Marcoleta and his debunked allegations against ABS-CBN.

Kim’s “Bawal Lumabas” viral video happened when she expressed her opinion on ABS-CBN shutdown via Facebook Live “Laban Kapamilya” with other Kapamilya celebrities. She tried to compare the law of the classroom to the decision of shutting down ABS-CBN.
Her statement turned into various memes, remixes and song covers then went trending on social media. Kim also received negative comments because of her statement as they called it “Law of Classroom”.
After almost two weeks of being silent about the incident, Kim Chui released a full song titled “Bawal Lumabas: The Classroom Song.” She turned the harsh criticism into a witty song which became a viral hit.
