Concerned netizens called out multi-awarded actress and comedian Ai-Ai Delas Alas for not wearing a mask while preparing food.
On April 30, the “The Clash” judge expressed her gratitude to her customers who patronized her pastries.
On Instagram, she wrote, “Good morning .. para sa aming maagang customers magandang umaga at salamat .. and Lord thank you sa araw na ito .. walang kaming sakit at malakas ang aming pangangatawan amen [praying emoji] TO GOD BE THE GLORY” alongside a photo where she can be seen preparing pastries.

However, some netizens noticed that the actress was not wearing a mask while she was preparing food.
Netizens raised their concerns and lectured Delas Alas about food safety and sanitation which is very important in the food business.
While some reminded the 55-year-old comedian-producer to wear a mask, some even suggested that she should wear a hair net.
A netizen commented, “Food prep/handling specially pang benta need naka mask and hair net.”
As a response to a commenter who told her to wear a mask, Delas Alas defended herself by saying that it only took one minute to lay the Leche flan on top of the cupcakes, and the wearing of a mask is only necessary when going out of the house.
She said, “Wala pang one minute mag lagay ng leche flan sa ibabaw.. chill lang kayo ang mask pag [lalabas] kayo kung may quarantine pass kayo.”
Another netizen also pointed out the importance of wearing a mask in doing food preparation and even cited “Grandslam Queen” Judy Ann Santos who practice it based on her vlogs and social media posts.
The commenter wrote, “mask po maam kasi food. po yan si maam judy ann po nakamask pagmagseserbe po xa ng mga foods na binibigay niya po just saying Lang po.”
Meanwhile, a netizen made light of the situation by saying “Baka daw kasi tumulo laway mo sa sarap ng lech flan mo.”
Nonetheless, many netizens praised the Kapuso comedian for being hardworking and good-looking for her age.
Furthermore, some who have tasted her pastries lauded Delas Alas’s tasty and ‘yummy’ cupcakes.
Wearing a mask, especially when preparing food is very essential as it keeps the food free from droplets that might fall on the food when sneezing or talking is inevitable.
Based on a DanMax Enterprise article published on April 10, 2013, wearing a food mask not only makes the wearer look more professional and clean, but it also gives the customers a higher satisfaction and confidence that the food being served is clean, free from pathogens, and safe to consume.
