In the online session for Actors’ Cue #ExtendTheLove, an initiative to assist displaced film workers affected by the pandemic lockdown, Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla talked about his work and passion and then revealed that working with his girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo poses challenges.
When they did The Hows of Us in 2018, Padilla admitted that they had so many questions in mind, such as how to make sure the film will do well just as their previous projects did.
“Mas madali? Hindi. Mahirap.
It’s a character.
But the actor was happy and fulfilled when he overcame the challenged that he faced,
Kailangan naming trabahuhin. Kailangan iba-ibahin.”
The Hows of Us broke multiple records in the Philippines, including being the first Filipino film to earn approximately 600 million at the domestic box office in 20 days.
Daniel Padilla also admitted that he didn’t face the challenge alone, with the help of the directors who were very strict and gave him advice all the time.
Iba ‘yung nakikita nila.”

He also recalled his movie with Charo Santos Concio, where his experience helped him find his a new style.
Ako more on rom-com and drama ‘yung ginagawa ko. Pwede ka rin kasi maubusan na.”
Whether the Weather is Fine was directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad and focused on the devastating aftermath of typhoon Yolanda, “Maganda rin ‘yung huling ginawa naming pelikula with Carlo and Ma’am Charo, nabali ng sobra ‘yung character ko sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Ibang timpla ng pelikula so na-refresh ka rin as an actor.”
Recently, Padilla also admitted that he feels pressured working with his girlfriend, Kathryn Bernardo.
Kathryn had been in the business since she was a child, which put more pressure on him.
“Dun ako nagkaroon. Kailangan galingan ko to.
And just last year, Kathyrn starred in the blockbuster movie, Hello, Love, Goodbye which became the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time after earning over ₱880 million worldwide, beating the record previously held by The Hows of Us.
When it comes to his choice of projects, Padilla still trusts ABS-CBN management with what they offer him.
