At the recent Congressional Hearing, SAGIP Partylist Representative Rodante Marcoleta accused ABS-CBN of committing alleged labor violations and claimed the company was allegedly not offering government-mandated benefits to its employees.
“Napakarami nang labor cases na hinarap at haharapin pa ng ABS-CBN. Ang masaklap pa dito, ni hindi nagbibigay ang ABS-CBN ng contribution sa benefits (nila),” he said.
This immediately caught the attention of Kapamilya actor and comedian Ogie Diaz who immediately blasted Marcoleta’s trolling and recycled accusations.
According to Ogie, since he started working at ABS-CBN as a radio anchor, he receives a monthly allowance and health benefits not just for him but for his kids as well, “For the record, since 1992 pa ako sa ABS-CBN. Ako mismo, may kontrata ako sa DZMM as radio anchor, di ako empleyado, pero aside from the tf, me allowance monthly din ako plus me HMO pa ako kasama 2 of my kids.”
Ogie also mentioned that ABS-CBN grants them Christmas bonuses and other benefits, “Me Christmas bonus din. Me network contract din ako sa ABS-CBN na guaranteed. At pag nag-fall short pa sila sa number of taping days required, bayad pa din ako.”

Ogie started questioning the Rep. Marcoleta for his recycled accusations.
“Ano pinagsasasabi nitong si SAGIP Partylist representative Marcoleta na walang benepisyo ang hindi empleyado?
“Kaya gusto kong tanungin itong si Cong. Marcoleta, ‘scientist’ po ba kayo, Sir? (Bakit?) Kasi, para din kayong ‘imbentor,’ eh.”
Even Silvestre Bello III, Labor Secretary, justified that ABS-CBN Corp. complies with the labor standards,
“We discovered some violations and we asked them to comply. We issued compliance orders. And in fairness, they complied.”
ABS-CBN employees also testified on their respective Twitter accounts that ABS-CBN indeed follows labor standards.
Kapamilya Journalist Kat Domingo testified that ABS CBN has cash gifts and even free enrollment in ABS-CBN University,
FYI, free enrollment din kami sa classes and trainings sa ABS-CBN university and may cash gift din na binibigay ang company for employees na ikakasal 😅😅😅😅 https://t.co/w7zVcu0fqw
